As a young child living on a farm exposed me to the natural world and all of its grandeur.  Nature seemed to leave an imprint on my mind, of the beauty that unfolded before me.  There is a sensitive side to me which I have learned to let happen and decided becoming an artist, would develop my creative inherent desires.  From that decision on, I have dedicated myself to my craft.  I have searched for the meaning of what constitutes beauty in art and how profoundly we are effected by the multifaceted diversity of this craft

  • I was born in Cleveland, Ohio and studied at the Cleveland Institute of Art, and John Carroll University.  Under the guidance of Professor Donald Boncela, my teacher, artist and art restorer.  I have assisted with the restoration of several 19th Century paintings by Norman Rockwell and Summers.  Through my studies, especially in painting techniques, whatever mark you render on a canvas, takes talent, knowledge and control.  Whatever intention you are trying to express, a major ideal is behind it all.   My travels here and abroad, have broadened my insights into the masters approach, to rendering pure works of art, from realism to minimalism.
I have experimented with all kinds of mediums, from egg tempera, acrylic, gouache, metallics and much more.  As a contemporary painter, I place myself as a Modern Traditionalist. I still use some form of paint, placed on a canvas or panel to render form and shapes into a design, that is esthetic in appearance. Because of this specific technique, I consider myself old school.
