Creativity vs. Commerce In the Visual Art World

The marketplace of visual art does not always include certain creative people in the world who view life from a different perspective.  This idea about Creativity vs. Commerce is for the invisible artist out there who are passionate about fueling the creative process. They work away from the mainstream in order to look for unconventional methods to enlighten us from what we already have seen and know. Inspired visions are always changing due to discoveries made by experimenting with new ways of doing things.  What one uncovers leads to the next rediscovery, this is the process of gaining insight to the next possibility. https://www.kenblakemoreartdesign.com In the marketing of art it seems that the art must fit into some kind of constant recognizable motif.  That approach gets you noticed by the people that have the power to represent your art.  That being said, the irony is that creativity is all about diversity, not market appeal. So if someone is constantly changing their style of art, their marketability is questionable.  You can enter shows and get awards for specific paintings, but the scope of the art is still invisible.  The commerce of creativity is so much in opposition to inventiveness. This mode of thought is not about the people who are successful with their art.  It is about the everyday artist who are passionate about creativity but choose to express their ideas in their own way.  Below are images created by someone working in his own way.

These Limited Edition Artworks are small in size but strong in design. The geometric shape called the square has many meanings, but what makes these abstract works of art particularly striking is that the square is invisible.  As you view each piece, observe closely where the dark circles are placed.  Notice the image taking shape, even though the physical appearance of the square might be hidden, it is there.

Abstract-Fractal Collection in Four Seasons

  1. Abstract -Fractal Art in Four Season      This Collection of paintings are Mono-Prints that represent a phenomenon in nature, called fractals, that surround are every day lives. The primary design of these paintings is rendered with drops of paint, creating the patterns in a fractal manner.  To simple define a fractal, it can be said that it is a geometrical or physical structure having an irregular or fragmented shape that repeat itself at different scales. The representation of the different sizes in this specific Collection is very significant for the viewer and the Art.  As the gradation of the size of the paintings diminish, there is less space in between the shapes of the paintings, creating a more dense and solid pattern of the design.  It is almost like the structural elements are turning into itself, creating its own unique design.   The largest sizes have a more open and airy feeling to them. The diversity of this collection not only uses size, but a most important element, color.  As in nature, all of the seasons are represented by the specific hues found in the natural surroundings.

To fully complete the palettes of each season and try to represent as many of the multitude of colors that make up the vastness in nature, each series not only represents a season, but extends it to, an early, middle and late palette.  In this the Artist is trying to include as many conceivable hues, that is very specific to each season.    All of the painting also, have a mirror image of the original one and are sold in sets to balance the work of Art.

Color & The Essence of Time in Art

If Time measures our existence, then what validates the continuance of time.  The most natural occurrence that surrounds our lives everyday which demonstrates and reveals the passage of time, is the change of seasons.  One of the most striking and visual aspects that occurs in this natural  phenomenon is the wide spectrum of color each season embodies and each season is sustained uniquely.

Every painting that is rendered in each collection is influenced by this natural law of color.  Each original painting uses a palette highly diverse in colors, that represent the cycle of time. The study of color is of prime importance because each painting must reveal itself to the viewer, which constitutes a change that represents the essence of time passing.  To recognize the difference of each season, the colors must personify that specific season, so that it stands on its own.  All of us are drawn to certain colors that conveys  particular feelings,

which can give us a sense of calm and enjoyment.  Thus when  we surround ourselves with art, where the element of color is strongly adopted in the design of the painting, our senses are heightened.  The four painting here, represent each season.  The color palette’s of each season are very unique.

Date started on 2012 and on going.

The primary design in this series of paintings are executed with black ink or black epoxy resign, on a white wood panel and then finished with a gouache wash IMG_0240 (533x800)overlay. The colors are intended to IMG_0242 (533x800)maintain a flat finish instead of a glossy one and yet project the purity of the colors intensity. I choose a Designers Gouache to achieve this look, also the technique gives a different approach to the traditional water color rendering.
The hues are precise color mixes that combines and organizes the colors not only as color harmony in Art, but to stimulate the esthetic feeling of the paintings.
To this date,2013, there are 6- 24in.x36in Paintings on wood panel.
